The 'Multi Faith' Garden at Capel Manor College.

My Rose Fountain forms the centrepiece of the 'Multi Faith' Garden at Capel Manor College.

The original idea of the 'Multi Faith' Garden was that of the Reverend Canon Chris Bard and Susan Bowden-Pickstock and was designed by college gardener and ex-student Julie Phipps. Its permanency within the college grounds was to be a focal point of the multifaith chaplaincy within the college.

The multi-faith garden which depicts Christianity, Islam, Hinduism and Judaism. Aspects of each of these faiths are represented primarily by roses. The design of the garden is based on the early Persian style of four quarters with my central water feature in the shape of a rose.

Julie Phipps, a member of the garden staff and the college and a garden designer, worked with Rev Bard on the Growing Together in Faith Garden. She said: "He was brilliant, his aim was to bring all the people of different faiths together." And the he “was the driving force behind getting the garden built back at the college and was over the moon when the garden won recognition at the Chelsea show”.She said: "It went down so well, everybody thought it was a brave thing to do. He was really enthusiastic about it. He made sure that we had the students from the different faiths working in the garden."
